This is very hard for me to write this I Loved my sister soooo much. The man i hold responsible for this is Stephen (Brad) Christiansen, (my wifes first son with another man, raised by her mother). Stephen is a megalomaniac who that thinks the world revolves around him. There was no reason for him to have brought a man with a gun with him, other than that he knew he was in the wrong an that there may trouble. Add to that that he is a coward and is afraid of his own shadow uness he has backup. In my opinion Stephen deserves to be shot down like a rabid antiscocial dog as he has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. He has ruined his family. Stephens' wife, Stephanie, is as sick if not more so than he is, as are his sycophant friends (only around because of money). Please do not approach him without proper saftey equipment eg. Shot guns, grenades, and some friends as it would not be safe. If there is a just God He will punish Stephen in an appropiate fashion. Though for the life of me i can't imagine anything bad enough.

hey, some of you may know me, julie generic. i have done a zine called weird weather in the past and while going through these tribes i realized i really want to put together a book of the Old Days. i live up in ukiah and jayed (feederz) also does, we are going to collaborate on this project.

here are a few of the things it will cover:

this book will be both a requiem and a revival of ALL old school punk stories and art, focus on SF bay area. the idea is to get writing, interviews, art etc., from people, alive and dead, who made this city a mecca of demented artistry during the years that punk thrived. i expect there will be certain cross-overs too, as 'genre' lines were not so finely drawn back then.

we will not be covering rivet, industrial, or any of those current manifestations of popular underground music because...well, it covers itself and i am not a huge fan (i do listen but not with the same passion and sense of connection).

what you can do to contribute:

* ideas for the title.
* art: got old flyers, pictures, photos? collage? anything that relates to the topic.
* RIP page(s): photos, music, art of people who are gone; or just a memorandum for someone you miss.
* writing: stories from your personal experiences on the street, in the clubs, with the bands, being there and what was going on with you in general.
* who's doing what now: bands, people, pets; interviews?
* ideas for issue themes: the farm, the mabuhay, the on broadway, powell punks, skate scene (jaks of course!), the early deathrock scene.
* contact page: who you are and how to get in touch so you can perhaps connect with old friends who are NOT dead yet.
* any other ideas you might have: brainstorm with me!

the topics will be broken down into chapters like, and RIP chapter, a 'where are they now' chapter, etc. and this needs to be NON FICTION. in our case, truth is stranger than fiction.

i always knew i'd put together a book, and this is it. we will be approaching vic vale first for publishing.

I can't think of a better way to honor the death of one of our own, in fact to honor all of our late family members then to fight for the renaming of the Alley after a man who was instrumental in giving us the place where we hooked up with what for many of us was the only family we ever had....RIP Spike, Dirk and all who preceded you:
Subject: Fab Mab Closed Again, Dirk Dirksen Alley renaming help neede
Body: (We did it right on the last night.)

Greetings,

The myspace blog quoted below is from the Tambre, one of the bookers that was attempting
to revive The Mab. They had a great little run. The last night was special, for a moment we brought the Mab and the Mab spirit all the way back. I'll write a review of this tomorrow but not only did I want to share this news with you but also to give an update on the resistance
to Dirk Dirksen Alley.

There is a special meeting tomorrow Thursday Nov. 15 on the renaming of the alley next to the Mab in Honor of Dirk Dirksen. As you know this is just a little sideway, almost a driveway. Hardly even an alley. But someone has decided to mount a resistance to this. I don't know the whole history of the Joey Ramone street corner in New York however it got done but not without a lot of support.

We need BODIES there at the meeting.
(Of course a lot of you do not live here but can still find ways to give
support and I wanted to send you this other news anyway.) It takes place
at 10:00 am in City Hall, Room 263. If you cannot attend please pass the
word along.

Thanks so much for all your love,

- John
VKTMS

****************************************************
November 13, 2007 - Tuesday

THE MABUHAY GARDENS IS AGAIN HISTORY

The people that have the lease on the Mab right now are NOT punk or metal friendly and want to go back to being a disco..... T & T Presents are moving our shows to other venues. You can see where on the calendar on the Mab site which I run as a memorial of the Mab and has nothing to do with the people leasing the space.

However, in that short time we (fab mabbers), while in the old Mab did get the alley name change going to Dirk Dirksen Alley , we raised money for Ness Aquino, and we received a proclomation from Mayor Gavin Newsom for bringing back a piece of San Francisco's history and established Mabuhay Gardens Day in San Francisco Oct 12, and we will be doing an event each year to celebrate.

The last show was a benefit for Ness Aquino, it was a great show, I can't think of a better way to go out.

It's ok, things happen for a reason. It is the spirit of what the Mab means to each of us that is most important.

We are now looking for an all age venue in SF, if anyone has any ideas on this feel free to contact me.

Thank you for your abundance of love and support.

Cheers!
Tambre

P.S. I am having Mabuhay Gardens shirts printed to further support Ness Aquino. Anyone interested can contact me or buy through the myspace.com/mabuhaygardens site soon.

A Memorial note from his wife:
"Rodney Matthew Notley Died suddenly on August 7, 2006 in Fort Collins, Colorado at age 37. He was clean and sober. Born October 24, 1968, Rod grew up in Santa Cruz, moving to San Francisco in his teens. Those of you who were part of the club/punk scene or hung out in the Haight in the '80s will remember him as one of "The Twins". A longtime bike messenger and cedar sidewall journeyman, Rod had recently moved to Colorado with the hopes of opening a tattoo studio, biking in the Rockies and making a better life for himself and his family. He is survived by his wife Carole; son, Austin; brothers, Marc and Chad Notley. Rod always said, "it's a crazy life" and would have wanted his friends to remember him with a party, celebrating a life lived fat and hard. So hoist a few in his memory, turn up the GNR, Johnny Thunders or Black Crowes and remember the good times with the guy with the ever-changing hair, beautiful smile and eyes, great sense of humor and lust for life. There will be several celebrations once we return to S.F. and his ashes will be scattered at sea both in Santa Cruz and S.F. on his birthday. Those of you whose lives he touched are welcome to attend. For more information, you may call Carole at 970-308-4695 or 970-416-7788

I couldn't think of a better group to bitch to about this. Now granted, any more, most of my interests are milk toast compared to what they used to be...but that doesn't necessarily mean that my friends are all dullish geeks like me...

So in a nutshell, Tribe is planning to ban most "questionable" content, shutting down tribes and kicking individuals.

The guy who posted this sent it to me in tribe mail. He's the guy who gave the puppy we had the best possible home. He has apparently been warned that he will be unsubscribed as of the 20th.

That's as much as I can say on the subject right now...need more coffee.

On quick a side note, though...Marcia, I still owe you some recipes. I've just been too busy to dig 'em and type 'em out. I'll get to them though, truly... Before x-mas even. :-)

You and I are a rare bread. We served our country, and yet both espouse anarchist beliefs. A lot of my close friends are still serving. they know my views. They also know that I support them personally, even if I don't support the guys in charge of them.

But there have always been two things that have bothered me about my service.

1. People's preconcieved notions regarding my service
2. People's reconcieved notions of those that serve now.

Per number 1. I joined the Navy, because I believe in the Constitution. I believe in defending it. That's why I joined. I was willing to lay my life on the line so others could have the freedoms on that document ("too bad you weren't around 30 years ago," my master chief said to me once on the party watch "beacuse that's when guys like you were around.") But I did my time, and I was discharged honorably. And in all that time, I never once lost sight or discarded my ideals. And as I found out later from the the singer from The God Bullies (who served on a ship in my group at the same time I did), I wasn't the only one.

Per Number 2. Too many people assume the guys that are serving are mindless robots. Nuff said on that

Well, mine was smooth and pleasant. I spent the day with my boyfriends family, and they are all very nice and like me a lot, so thats a good thing. A bunch of us took a walk out to the Bay (mom's house is in Emeryville).
Then I went to chair that meeting and it actually went pretty well. It was interesting for me to look back in a concise way.

I got there and since Im an absentee voter they needed my ballot to trade in, so I had to go home, but then they needed the envelope. so I ended up doing a provisional vote that doesnt get counted until after the election.

Combined with the dead/MIA list, it really depressed me.

Well, some good news, for a change.

Last week, I missed my turnoff coming from Napa, and ended up in SF. To make the best of the day, I decided to grab a beer at Zeitgueist. On my way down, I decided to check out Polk, just to check out the old neighborhood. As I rode down, I saw a framiliar figure. Turns out it was my old friend, Garreth. Garreth, because no one really knew him, was a hard-core skater. He used to skate regularly at The Dish. Anyway, once he moved out of his mom's place, he hooked himself hard on speed. Really hard-core. He ended up ripping me off for a lot of money (but that's another sotry)., because his need was that insatable.

Flash forward a few months- he was arrested in the Powell St. bart station with 50 grams of meth.

I know for a fact that he had no intention of selling it. His appetite was that ferocious. But in any case, he was charged, tried and convivted.

Flash forward a few years....

I'm standing in an elevator. I've decided to grow my hair long, because my family genes dictate I'll be loosing my hair in the next five years. i now have glasses. I've grown a beard (well, one that a mix-breed can grow. anyway). On the elevator, I hear off to my side "Flesh?". I look over, and I see a hardend guy who looks rally familiar. "Garreth?" I ask. Turns out it was. He was there on a work release program. After a brief conversation, I told him I would put in a good word for him.

Short story: he was sent back to serve his full time, afer he tested positive for pot.

Flash forward to the present. I'm riding along Polk, and a see a framiliar figure. He has better clothes. An Ipod. He seems healthy and content.

I am happy.
